GTA V Audio Fixes: Remove High FPS Stutters & 188 FPS Limit

For players running GTA V on modern hardware, audio-related stutters and FPS limitations can hinder an otherwise smooth gaming experience. The GTA V Audio Fixer mod resolves these issues by tweaking the RAGE audio engine, offering improved performance and gameplay fluidity.

What Does the Mod Do?

This .asi mod addresses two key issues with GTA V’s audio engine:

1. High-FPS Stutters and Menu Lag
   • When FPS exceeds 140 or the pause menu is accessed, the game may experience noticeable stutters.
   • The stutters occur due to the “audioTimeout” functionality in RAGE, which syncs the audio and main threads.
   • This mod disables that synchronization, eliminating the stutters without affecting gameplay.
2. 188 FPS Limit
   • RAGE imposes an audio frame limiter that caps FPS at 188.
   • The mod removes this limitation, enabling higher FPS for those with powerful hardware.
   • Disabling the FPS cap may slightly impact gameplay mechanics, such as how dialogue timing interacts with character abilities.

Mod Versions

The mod is distributed in two variants to suit different preferences:

• GTAV.StutterFix.asi: Fixes high-FPS and menu stutters but retains the 188 FPS limit.
• GTAV.UncapFPS.asi: Fixes stutters and removes the 188 FPS cap.
